Wedding plans, biker style.
We are planning our wedding. And we want it to be like a biker rally.Try finding somewhere you can have a wedding that fits a gaggle of motorcycles, Not an easy task I assure you.
There is one place we are quite fond of, very much toward the budget end of the spectrum but what’s more important is the guests, the atmosphere and the ability to have our bikes all round us as we tie the knot.
Being second time around for both of us, we want it to be just right but don’t want to have to take a second mortgage to fund it. We also want it to be personal and reflect us, our values and our lifestyle.
Kelly wants bikes present in numbers and she wants to walk through an isle lined with all our friends’ motorcycles.
I want informal as much as I can get, so these two idea’s dovetail quite nicely.
She is going to wear her motorcycle boots under the dress (they are very dressy style boots though) and we want some friends to play the acoustic intro to Nothing Else Matters by Metallica as the wedding march (her choice, honest!)
I want to wear a basic black suit with either black shirt and white tie or white shirt and black tie, not sure yet.
As we have already got everything we need for our home, instead of wedding presents we want folks to bring a bottle of something for the party. Even thinking of getting guests to bring a share plate as well, I mean who cooks the BEST food in the world? Our friends do, that’s who. The BBQ’s we have among our crowd of mates are legendary. Might even have to steal, beg or borrow Brendan’s cousins spit roaster….. That’s the sort of party we want. Maybe a hangi? Oooo now that would be adventurous…. Home cooking, lots to drink, and no expensive caterers to worry about.
That’s the plan anyway, and far more personal I think.
With the number of high quality cameras in everyone’s pocket these days (and one particular mate with a passion for photography) I think we can get around the expense of a wedding photographer as well. Depends if he has room for both his guitar and his camera in the bag I guess.
But of course, we still have to sort out the venue. And if the one I am thinking of is not available, then I wonder which of our friends has the biggest back yard.
